Kitchen Renovations — Prepare Yourself For The Transformation

Blog

If you do not understand the full scope of a kitchen renovation process, review the order in which your renovation project may be executed. The following information will better prepare you for the transformation that will take place.

Preliminaries

The preliminary steps include hiring a contractor and preparing rough plans for the remodeling project. During this time, you can suggest the color scheme, overall theme, and materials that you would like the contractor to use for the upgrades. The initial plans will likely be modified one or more times, both before and during the renovation process.

The contractor may not be able to fit some items into the layout or may come across some type of obstacle that will require repair work to be conducted first. These types of problems may necessitate that the plans are revised.

The Teardown

A teardown process is necessary when a kitchen is going to be fully remodeled. The contractor and their crew may remove old plumbing, appliances, flooring materials, and electrical components.

Your contractor will make arrangements to store unwanted items in a dumpster or another waste container. Once the teardown process is complete, the items that are being disposed of will be hauled away.

Upgrades

New electrical materials and plumbing materials may be installed by subcontractors. If the contractor you have hired is fully licensed to oversee all of the parts of the remodeling process, they may be in charge of executing each of the upgrades that will take place.

Once all of the new materials are installed, the contractor will inspect the work that was completed.

Flooring And Walls

Flooring and walls will likely be focused on next. Your contractor will go over the material list with you, prior to making any changes to the flooring and walls. They will ensure that the products that you have selected will complement the fixtures, appliances, and furnishings that will be installed in the kitchen.

Once the flooring and wall work is complete, the contractor and renovation crew will clean up the areas where they installed new materials. They may use a vacuum to collect loose dust and other debris that is a direct result of sanding or cutting materials.

Cabinets, Counters, And Appliances

The cabinetry, counters, and appliances will be installed last. The contractor will mark where each item will be placed. They will oversee the installation process. At the end of the installation phase, surfaces within the kitchen may need to be vacuumed or wiped clean.
