Have Mold In Your Shower? 3 Shower Remodeling Trends To Keep In Mind

Blog

Mold is caused by a variety of different things, but it is primarily caused by excess moisture that is commonly found in places like your bathroom. If you have recently found mold in your shower, you may have to tear out the entire thing and have it remodeled. While most homeowners insurance companies will cover the cost of a project like this, it's still important to make wise decisions regarding things like the size of the shower you are having put in, the placement of shower heads, and the types of tile you want to use.

The Size of the Shower

Sure, you can feasibly shower in a really small space, but why would you do it if you didn't have to? One trend that is really taking over the interior design world right now is large, oversized showers. In fact, a lot of homeowners are realizing that they never use their bathtubs at all and instead are putting in a large walk-in shower to cover the square footage of their bathroom. When you choose a large shower, you have enough room for both yourself and your significant other.

The Placement of Shower Heads

If you are going to go with a big shower, then you will definitely want to consider the placement of the shower heads. For instance, when you have such a large space, you want to set up shower heads on the ceiling (like a rainfall shower) on the sides (like in a traditional shower) and all around the middle (like a custom shower). Having all of these shower heads can make showering a lot quicker and more efficient. And the great thing about having so many shower heads is that if you do not want to use them all, you can turn some of them off and leave some others on.

Types of Tile

When you have a big shower, you tile is going to be front and center. When you are choosing the types of tile that you want to go with, consider doing a small tile on the base of the shower and then larger tiles all the way up the side; the contrast of scale will make your shower look a lot more custom. Another fun thing to consider is having an accent strip of tile that goes all the way down the middle.

Before you have the tile laid, just make sure your contractors are taking all of the precautions in order to prevent any mold or water damage happening again in the future.

They worked with us each and every day to make things right, and I was really impressed with their level of professionalism.
